A Few Months Ago

I was in Houma, Louisiana having a great dinner at A-Bears café. There was a nice Cajun band playing and this gentleman was walking around visiting with various folks. He came by my table and I invited him to sit and visit. And he did. I offered to share my dessert, a piece of peanut butter chocolate pie, in hopes that it would free me up to also order the bread pudding, but he passed.

Fourth Of July

We have a lot to be thankful for in these United States of America. And I am, very much so. But the sacrifice, the willingness to work together, the understanding, and the acceptance of the responsibility each of us as citizens hold to the greater good of this country is just not there ( except in times of great tragedy) as it once was. The red, white, and blue of our flag is divided. I hope that future generations will do better than mine has to repair these divisions- to regain and place at the forefront what has made this country so great.
