I'm very comfortable in the dark and surprisingly so is my daughter. When you've been walking in soft sand and it's very dark and the sound of the surf is loud but it's "out there" in that darkness and she was young enough to not really understand what the sound was then it's a great relief to come into the light! In fact it called for running in circles through the shadows on the sand!
