There were five Missions established in San Antonio, the most famous of which is known today as the Alamo. It is the only one of the five that does not still function as an active Roman Catholic church. The others are all part of our National Park system but still serve as parish churches as well. The Alamo is also the only one that will not allow photography inside. There are signs instructing you to remove your hat before entering, the Alamo that is, not the mission churches. The Alamo also has the largest gift shop. You don't have to take your hat off inside it.Now I am very proud of being a third generation Texan and of Texas- but somehow this all seems really out of whack to me. Anyway, this is not the Alamo but the rather the Mission San Jose.
I was born in Texas and have lived here all my life.I have been taking photographs for more than sixty years. I have been married for forty-six years. I have been a father for twenty-two years.I still have the second camera and the second car I ever bought. A Miranda G and a 65Mustang.
