Late New Years Eve

Renee', Hallie, Bailee, Karen, and I headed to San Antonio on New Years Eve with a two-fold goal- tamales from Reubens and chicken from Pollo Asado al Norteno! To be honest B &H don't eat the chicken ( just chic-fil-a for them😩) but they were up for tamales AND Pollo Asado also has killer grilled burgers! Someday i'll eat one but stuffed with fresh tamales and that otherworldly chicken a couple of bites is all I've managed so far.
The tamale eating is pretty ritualized- on either the hood of the car or inside it you open a dozen, let the aroma fill the air and then devour them! And sometimes they are so HOT you can barely unwrap them!

because there are tortillas, grilled onions & jalapeños, rice, beans, and of course the famous green sauce in addition to the chicken! it goes a little slower!
