Palm Sunday 2020

No procession, no palm fronds to wave, no public observance of the beginning of Holy Week. Most importantly none of that is needed, at least not in public or in groups of people. As far as I have read God never asked for us to present these demonstrations. In fact, quite a bit of what is practiced in most religions, is not asked of its followers by its Diety. Unfortunately what is asked for is most often ignored.
So when I hear of a pastor making statements like this
“Do you believe God would bring his people to his house to be contagious with the virus? Of course not,” said pastor Guillermo Maldonado, who goes by the term of “apostle,” at a service on Sunday morning at the King Jesus International Ministry in Kendall.
I would have to ask, Do you believe God would bring His people to to His House to have them shot or stabbed?  Then from another promoting large gatherings
“The church is the last force resisting the Antichrist; let us assemble regardless of what anyone says,” Pastor Tony Spell of megachurch Life Tabernacle Church in Central, La.
I wonder does this man believe we have to be assembled in order to oppose evil? That an individual standing alone before evil is not far more powerful than any army of people?
There is a huge difference between faith and religion. Faith exists without religion and always will. Gathering together in worship is beautiful but in the cases above and  similar ones, across  many faiths, I believe it is more about the church than God.
Reflect on these words from Michael Dyson, although I would substitute the word Faith for
Spirituality
      Spirituality makes religion behave.
