Well Her Head Certainly Isnt Triangular!

On Memorial Day my daughter and her friend produced a show on Indians and Rattlesnakes! I'm not sure where the Indians came in but they let us know that they were both born in the Year of the Snake! And that rattlesnakes have triangular heads- just like the one they made! I've spent a lot of time in the desert and my whole life in Texas and I still REALLY dont like snakes! She knows it! Last night she showed me that it had had two babies! And then left them all loose here in the shed!

Memorial Day

The sun was setting, the air was fresh from rain, the Goddess of Liberty stands in glory because many have fallen. We need to remember them, even if we dont know their names. Someday it might be my daughter. God Bless Them and give them the Peace they bought for us.

Big Bend Firsts

I've been going out to the Big Bend for something over thirty-seven years now. This last trip brought me some firsts, a collison with a mule deer ( en route) and a bite that put me in bed for about four days. The way things go though I was able to drive my truck for the rest of the trip ( doesnt usually turn out that way at all) and the bite didnt really give me any problems til I got home! I would have preferred to spend the four days in bed out under the stars of Brewster County

Thats Me

By the light of a half moon at Nine Point Draw. The night before it was still 98 degrees at ten PM. This night it dropped below 50 and I was too lazy to get up and haul out the sleeping bag. Sweating one night and shivering the next! You just gotta love the desert! The best beer I ever drank was after hiking to Dog Canyon, behind me in this picture, mid-day one August. I had my wife, mother-in-law, and father-in-law with me. I knew I was crazy but til they went along I didn't know they were too!
