was a couple of days ago. Renee' got this bottle out of the freezer and we split a shot. New picture but  the bottle and its remaining contents are more than a quarter century old! Lots of memories inside there.

Hard to Tell Sometimes

if the blight in our world is spreading or whether we aren't paying enough attention to the beauty? However there is no doubt there is blight that needs to be seriously addressed.

On The Bus!

and now about to start their second year of college!  My daughter and her friend since first grade are both attending college in Colorado but very different schools! Hallie at the University of Colorado in Boulder and Catherine at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs! I know none of us had any idea that they would face the challenges they are dealing with! Them and a whole Earth's full of kids!

Fourth of July 2020

The only reason this wont anger many is that very, very few read this blog. I made the unfortunate choice today to read an article that had the first two quotes in it and that led to this, my own little Fourth of July Speech!

I believe this is TRUE though, that those who served and have given their lives in service to the PEOPLE of this country would know it to be TRUE. 

Because its never been about principle, the needs , rights of others, or a moral truth  but winning! I believe there is still a small thread of hope for that in a few individual candidates but for most politicians , of either party, it is now about winning.

“They coddled this guy the whole time and now it’s like some rats are jumping off of the sinking ship. It’s just a little late,” Kasich said. “It’s left this nation with a crescendo of hate not only between politicians but between citizens. … It started with Charlottesville and people remained silent then, and we find ourselves in this position now.”

Kasich added, “I’m glad to see some of these Republicans moving the other way but it reminds me of Vichy France where they said, ‘Well, I never had anything to do with that,’” a reference to the French government that continued during Nazi occupation in the 1940s. 

Strange ( that is meant to be sarcastic) this Republican pollsters concern is not that the base is misguided, to say the least, but that its not enough to win!

“The president’s base is locked in. They love him, they’re going to turn out and they’re going to vote for him,” GOP pollster Whit Ayres said. “The problem is that the base is not enough to win. You can make a case that protecting Confederate monuments is very popular among at least a portion of his base, but it does nothing to expand the coalition, and that’s the imperative at the moment and will be going forward if the party hopes to govern.”

As a reminder, these words from the Declaration of Independence issued on July 4, 1776

"our frontiers" it seems to me those Indian Savages had been there for centuries before it became "our frontiers"

 

Even though this document is based on this statement of principle.....

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Nothing New after all, for those of us who believe in the God of the Old and New Testaments Cain killed his own brother, Abel. Then to top even that we put Christ, the Son of God to death.

And Yet, that same God offers us forgiveness and asks only that we Love One Another.
