For me, photography is about the print, not what you see on a screen- no
matter how perfectly
calibrated it is. Screens are transmitted light
and photographs, for me, are viewed as reflected
light. I may use
digital and have my darkroom dismantled, very rarely shoot film- but I'm
very firmly of the school that photographs are BEST and most honestly
viewed as I intended- as a print! Flickr and other mediums give us a
fantastic opportunity to see so much more work! But there are so many
digital images that I can only imagine how magnificent they might be
printed.
I've been experimenting with printing on papers not particularly intended for inkjet printing. This one started as a digital image, toned in the printing process, printed on mulberry paper- for its texture and color- then re-scanned carefully to preserve as much of its unique look I'm capable of.
Its still NOT THE SAME as viewing the original print but its very close! I'm excited and intend to pursue it futher.
My very small knowlege of computers is plain to see in my inablity to even get these words typed properly!
