Missed Zoo

Unfortunately, you just don't get to do it all. Or maybe you do and you just have to pay a little more attention. Anyway I started this post because the Houston Photobloggers had a photo field trip planned to the Houston Zoo this past Saturday and I really wanted to go. To get some new ideas from being around others while they photographed, meet some new people who share an interest in photography. But I made a choice that kept me from that trip. I don't regret the choice but I did miss the trip. So I decided to post some pictures here from the last time I went to the zoo in San Antonio. I will just bet that something I would have taken this Saturday would have been similar to one of these.

It's the one that might have been entirely new and different that I'm missing. I know that you shouldn't miss what never existed but I think I will and just see what it feels like.

Last Year

This time last year my daughter was starting her swimming lessons. I love the water, but didn't learn to swim until college ( its dry in West Texas and I never really liked fighting the cows for the mud in the stock tanks or the water moccasins for the little bit of wet in the creek!) Hallie has lots more choices and she is enjoying them. She's still not a strong swimmer but she's coming along...... faster when she gets lessons from someone other than her Daddy!

Out of Place

So I've really been enjoying jpg.com a really good photography site/magazine. They suggest themes you can post photos to and from selected photographs they publish a great magazine. Sometimes a lot of the fun, for me anyway, is figuring out why a particular photograph was posted in a certain theme. I'm going to enter this in "Out of Place",,, one of these things is not like the other. I wonder if I'm having some sort of unintended fun with this.
